Yelinyuan took the oden from the vendor, expertly paid, and asked, “Is there anything else you want to eat?”
“No, this is enough.”
“Is it really enough?” Yelinyuan noticed Tong Sui had glanced at a nearby stall when she arrived. “How about roasted goose rice? Do you want some?”
Tong Sui hesitated for a moment but then nodded.
Yelinyuan went to buy the rice, while Tong Sui randomly chose a spot to sit down.
He noticed two people sitting not far away.
Jiang Che?
Tong Sui squinted, seeing a very handsome boy sitting across from him, and they seemed to be chatting happily.
The system in his mind said, “Handsome, right? That’s our main character, a hidden royal heir!”
Tong Sui replied, “He’s not as handsome as Yelinyuan.”
The system responded, “But that’s the main character! How could a villain be better looking than the protagonist?”
Tong Sui insisted, “Yelinyuan is handsome.”
The system remarked, “…You’re just seeing beauty through the eyes of your lover.”
The steaming oden was placed on the table, along with the fragrant roasted goose rice, causing Tong Sui to forget about his conversation with the system.
He had a small appetite, not eating much, leaving the rest for Yelinyuan.
If any of Yelinyuan’s acquaintances saw him eating something Tong Sui had already touched without a change in his countenance, they would surely be shocked.
Is this really the same aloof and distant Yelinyuan?
After finishing his meal, Tong Sui raised his gaze.
Jiang Che and the others had arrived early and had already left.
But with the main character around, he didn’t have to worry about anything else.
Tong Sui stood up, “I’ll go get you a drink.”
He walked to the vending machine, avoiding the two drinks he had purchased earlier, and chose a strawberry milk instead.
He returned with the chilled milk in hand.
He offered one bottle to Yelinyuan and opened his own, sticking in a straw. “How did you know I wasn’t in the classroom today?”
“I went to find you. I looked around the classroom but didn’t see you.”
Yelinyuan found it hard to describe how he felt at that moment.
He was afraid that Tong Sui had said those words only out of drunken impulse the night before and would regret them upon waking.
He had even thought about what he would do if Tong Sui regretted his confession—he would confine him.
“Yelinyuan?”
Tong Sui took a sip of milk and looked at him.
The taste of strawberry milk burst on his tongue—sour, sweet, and delightfully cool.
Seeing Tong Sui’s oblivious expression, Yelinyuan tucked away those darker thoughts in his heart.
He said, “Make sure to pay attention in class this afternoon. I’ll tutor you tonight.”
“Okay.”
After finishing their meal, Yelinyuan accompanied Tong Sui to the dormitory stairs before leaving.
As he walked away, he bumped into Xiaopang and a few other classmates coming back.
Yelinyuan usually had no expression on his face except when he was with Tong Sui, appearing unapproachable.
Xiaopang quietly mumbled from behind, “What’s Yelinyuan doing here?”
One of the students replied, “I don’t know. He didn’t look too happy this morning, but he seems better now.”
“How can you tell?”
“But what was that thing he just had in his hand? It was pink.”
“Strawberry milk?”
The group carried their takeout back to the dorm and opened the door when Xiaopang noticed the drink in Tong Sui’s hand.
“Hey?”
Xiaopang leaned close. “Sui Ge, you drink this too? I just saw Yelinyuan had the same one. So, how does it taste?”
“It’s not bad.”
“By the way, what were you doing with Jiang Che today? You should have seen Yelinyuan’s sour face when he was standing outside the classroom.”
Tong Sui recalled that image and couldn’t help but smirk, feeling the strawberry flavor seemed even sweeter.
On the other side, Jiang Che looked noticeably nervous and stammered, “We… we didn’t do anything.”
Tong Sui casually replied, “Yeah, I dragged him out to cut class because I was too sleepy and went back to sleep.”
Xiaopang gave a thumbs up, completely believing Tong Sui’s words, “Awesome! First day cutting class, Sui Ge, I admire you.”
“Hey, hey, hey, did everyone hear?” A classmate suddenly hurried in, “Bian Sheng is dropping out. He got beaten up and is in the hospital! What’s going on?”
“Who? Seems like we got rid of a nuisance.”
“I’ve disliked him for a long time. Good riddance!”
Jiang Che looked at Tong Sui with a hint of admiration.
Meanwhile, Tong Sui yawned, seeming to have anticipated the news.
After the brief noon break, afternoon classes began.
Tong Sui had slept all day and was now finding it hard to stay awake. He decided to pull out his textbooks from this semester to see what was different.
Since his seat was towards the back and inconspicuous, it was usually chosen by the less academically inclined students.
Yet, with Tong Sui around, those students dared not cause trouble, fearing to upset him.
The teacher at the podium, noticing Tong Sui flipping through his book quickly, assumed he was just passing the time and chose to ignore him.
The professional knowledge was mostly the same, so Tong Sui didn’t need to put in much effort. He had no intention of breaking the original character’s setup and suddenly becoming a good student.
Once he got a sense of the situation, he gazed out the window and began to daydream.
The sunlight outside gradually faded away, and the class bell rang. Tong Sui, who had not left the classroom at all, suddenly perked up. He packed his things and was among the first to leave the classroom.
Xiaopang quickly followed, “Sui Ge, why are you in such a hurry? Do you have something urgent to do?”
“No, not really.”
Xiaopang exclaimed, “Oh… are you going on a date?”
Tong Sui nodded lightly, quickening his pace.
He finished his meal quickly, returned to the dorm, took a shower, and changed into a new outfit.
